The visual result: the most realistic hair-stroke appearance available in PMU. Individual strokes look like real brow hair growing from your skin.

Nano Brows (also called Nano Hair Stroke Brows)
An ultra-fine single needle attached to a digital PMU machine deposits pigment into the skin one dot at a time, creating hair-stroke marks that look extremely similar to microblading but are made with far more precision and less trauma.
The visual result: hair-stroke marks that are slightly softer than microblading but incredibly realistic. The machine allows for consistent depth control that manual blades can’t match.
The technical trade-off: slightly less “cut-in” definition than microblading, but far better healing across every skin type. Nano is the modern evolution of microblading and works for a wider range of clients.
Ombre Brows (also called Powder Brows or Ombre Powder Brows)
A digital PMU machine deposits thousands of tiny pigment dots into the skin using a stippling motion — creating a soft, powdered gradient effect. The brow starts lighter at the front (bulb), deepens through the arch and body, and fades softly through the tail.
The visual result: looks like beautifully filled-in brow makeup that never washes off. Not hair strokes — a soft powder effect.
The technical trade-off: doesn’t mimic individual hair strokes. But heals beautifully on ALL skin types including oily, combination, mature, and previously-PMU’d skin. It’s the most universally-suitable brow PMU technique.
Microblading vs Ombre Brows: The Head-to-Head

Nano Brows vs Ombre Brows: The Head-to-Head

Best suited to: Nano — clients who want the realistic hair-stroke look. Ombre — clients who want the “filled-in brow makeup” look.

The Skin Type Question (The Single Biggest Deciding Factor)
Skin type dictates PMU results more than any other variable. Here’s the honest breakdown.
Dry skin: Any of the three treatments works. Microblading actually looks its best on dry skin because hair strokes stay crisp. Nano and Ombre also perform beautifully.
Normal / combination skin: Nano and Ombre both work well. Microblading works but may soften around the T-zone over time.
Oily skin: Ombre is the clear winner. Nano is possible but hair strokes soften over 6–12 months. Microblading is generally not recommended — the strokes blur significantly and heal poorly on oily skin.
